About Tideswell Village
Tideswell is a large village located in the limestone uplands near Buxton.
The church of St John the Baptist , known as “the cathedral of the Peak” was built in the 14th Century and contains some notable monuments, brasses and wood carvings. There are many old buildings to see in Tideswell as well as a good range of pubs and cafes for a refreshment stop, and an excellent range of sports and recreational facilities.
Each May Tideswell Food Festival is held, with many stalls and entertainment. Well Dressings and Wakes Week are held in late June and early July, with regular concerts held in the church.
At the southern end of the village is Tideswell Dale, which hosts a nature reserve with car parking, picnic area and public toilets. It also has a sculpture trail.
There is a small Tourist Information point in the Vanilla Kitchen café where you can pick up leaflets and find out about events in the area.
