Local Attractions & Things To Do In The Local Area
Both Tideswell and Taddington are beautiful old villages nestled in the middle of the Derbyshire Peak District.
There are many, many attractions nearby for all ages. From the stunning Chatsworth House, gardens, farmyard and farm shop, to local villages of Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton, not to mention the historic village of Eyam.

Thornbridge Hall

Thornbridge Hall is a Grade II listed stately home in the heart of the peak district. It is surrounded by 12 acres of quintessentially English gardens set within 100 acres of privately owned parkland.
Thornbridge Brewery

The first Thornbridge craft beers were produced in February 2005 at the brewery housed in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. The range of cask and bottled beers has gained considerable success, having won more than 100 awards.
Peveril Castle

Peveril Castle is one of England’s earliest Norman fortresses, built between 1066 and 1086 & named after William Peveril, who was given the title of bailiff of the Royal Manors of the Peak after the Norman Conquest of 1066.

Chatsworth has reopened its world famous garden for pre-booked visits only, and is welcoming back visitors with more than 50,000 new flowering perennials, shrubs and trees as well as a huge, new stone sculpture called Natural Course by the artist Laura Ellen Bacon.

Lyme Park, House and Garden

Nestling on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme Park, House and Garden was once home to the Legh family and was, in its heyday, a great sporting estate. Lyme is now managed by the National Trust and was used as a location for the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, starring Colin Firth.

Holmebrook Valley Country Park

The largest park in Chesterfield with fishing lake and wildflower meadows. There are play areas for children, cycle paths and footpaths through and around the park as well as an orienteering route and mountain bike course. The café offers home-made food.
Monsal Trail
The Monsal Trail is a traffic free route for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users through some of the Peak District's most spectacular limestone dales. The trail runs along the former Midland Railway line for 8.5 miles between Blackwell Mill, in Chee Dale and Coombs Road, at Bakewell.
Bakewell
Situated on the banks of the river Wye in the Derbyshire White Peaks, Bakewell offers a charming day out full of rich heritage and tradition. Surrounded by glorious countryside, the town offers charming tea rooms set in cosy courtyards, impressive stone buildings, a traditional weekly market, a quaint five-arched bridge that goes back to Roman times, a Grade I listed church, a museum, historic almshouses, and various riverside attractions.
Matlock
Matlock is the County Town of Derbyshire and is located in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales within the Derwent Valley. With the Peak District National Park only a few miles to the North, Matlock is popular with visitors enjoying the countryside and the amenities the town has to offer. The Town is twinned with Eaubonne in France and has a population of around 10,000 people.
